Cagayan de Oro – The Department of Health (DOH) in region 10 will be launchingtheir Vector Control Strategy Program by using insecticide-treated nets in the differentschools in the region to protect the school children from the dengue mosquitoes.
This came after DOH 10 has recorded more than 2,000 dengue cases from January of this year with 38 fatalities.
Climate scientist have linked climate change to increase in vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria.
Vector-bone diseases are usually carried by arthropods, like insects that transmit viruses, bacteria and other disease-causingmicro-organisms when they bite humans.

Olyset curtain or nets are insecticide treated nets that kill dengue and malaria-carrying mosquitos.
It is being widely used in Africa where malaria and other mosquito-borne disease have reached epidemic levels.

“We will be launching our Olyset Roll curtain in West City Central School on July 14. They will be recieving at least one roll of Olyset that will cover at leastfour classrooms,” Torrecampo told The Daily Corridor.
According to Torrecampo, the fitted curtains curtains will last until five yeats as long as the school will follow the washing instruction, adding that it should not be hungand exposed to direct sunlight.
